The interactive experience features a character named Whiskers, a cat depicted as experiencing paranoid schizophrenia. Throughout the program, users will encounter auditory hallucinations and delusional beliefs. The goal is to facilitate exploration of different cognitive strategies that may assist in managing these symptoms by experimenting with various beliefs and coping techniques. The approach is informed by cognitive-behavioral therapy tailored for psychosis, incorporating normalization and cognitive restructuring.

Schizophrenia affects approximately 1% of the population and is characterized by abnormal interpretations of reality. Psychosis refers to a disconnection in perceiving reality, which may result from schizophrenia or other conditions such as Bipolar I disorder, major depression, medication side effects, or substance use. Psychosis can also be associated with disorders like schizoaffective disorder, schizophreniform disorder, brief psychotic disorder, delusional disorder, and substance-induced psychotic episodes.

Core symptoms include delusions—firm false beliefs—and hallucinations—perceptions of sights or sounds without external stimuli. Additional symptoms may involve disorganized speech, inappropriate behavior, impaired daily functioning, diminished motivation, depression, and anxiety.
